The Sanddunes – 3 Bedroom House at Camber, UK

The Sanddunes – 3 Bedroom House at Camber, UK

This new-built, spacious three bedroom house is the ideal base for a relaxing beach holiday for the whole family – or just a nice weekeend away from London at any time of year. It’s only a few hundred yards from the beach, and there are lots of things to do in the area. And if you really want to stay in, the house is equipped with all the mod cons – a nice flatscreen TV and DVD / iPod player in the living room, spacious kitchen with DAB radio, beach toys for the kids, and board games for the whole family.?It sleeps 6 people, although in a push there is a sofa-bed in the living room for an extra two visitors. ?There’s also a wireless broadband connection if you need to get online, or even work from home.

Downstairs there’s a spacious living room with a comfy sofa and a separate sofa-bed (for unexpected guests). There’s also a DVD Player / iPos music system hooked to a nice flatscreen TV with FreeView

The corridor leads you past the downstairs cloakroom (and storage with beach toys under the stairs) to the spacious, open plan kitchen / dining room / sun room. We usually hang out on the sofa there with the french doors open and just soak in summer. Of course the kitchen is fully equipped with all the things you need – we need them, too, when we’re there! One of the essentials
From the sun room you step on to decking with outside eating area and a sun-umbrella, next to the barbecue. The rest of the garden is gravelled, and the backdoor from the garden leads you to a shortcut, past The Place on to the beach (it’s a nice place to stop by for a drink or dinner if you don’t fancy cooking, and they do great BBQs in the summer)

Upstairs on the left is a lovely, bright and sunny bedroom with a single bed (that can be extended to two full size beds – just let us know when you book)  Next to it is a twin bedroom; the beds can be linked together to make a nice double bed as well. Then there is a spacious family bathroom

And finally there’s the master bedroom, with a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite shower room

All bedrooms have blackout blinds fitted so you can enjoy a proper lie in if you need a break from the beach

If you need to plan your activities beyond the beach, there is of course WiFi internet access.

Railway Cottage – 2 Bedroom Cottage in North Yorkshire, UK

Railway Cottage sleeps 4/5 people and is located at Newbridge (nr. Pickering), the gateway to the stunning North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Newly restored in 2009, this comfortable, 3 star, former railway workers cottage will appeal to steam railway enthusiasts, walkers and families alike – the majestic steam locomotives of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) actually pass, and stop, in front of the lounge and master bedroom windows as they proceed at “snail’s pace” past the adjacent level crossing/signal box! The line is privately and exclusively used by the NYMR (so please note that there are no fast main line trains!) – recently Goathland station was featured as Hogsmeade in Harry Potter!

The cottage is situated within a small, quiet hamlet, and yet benefits from being within only 15 minutes easy walking distance of the market town of Pickering, with its supermarkets, shops, traditional pubs, wide choice of restaurants and, of course, famous steam railway station.

This is one of the most interesting & picturesque areas of England, with a wide range of “must see” tourist attractions within easy reach. Guests of the cottage can look forward to a choice of days out including:

  • A visit, to “Aidensfield”, the setting of “Heartbeat” in Goathland
  • The seaside resorts of Scarborough & Whitby (frequented by Count Dracula!)
  • The historic city of York and its famous Minster
  • The market town of Helmsley
  • Castle Howard – one of Britain’s finest historic houses
  • Thornton-le-Dale with its thatched cottage
  • Dalby Forest – for cycling and nature-watching
  • Flamingoland Zoo and Theme Park
  • The McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village

The cottage is available all year-round (including short term lets). It has its own parking and a private patio for alfresco dining. Changeover day is flexible.  For some additional holiday luxury, guests may order from a range of “home cooked” traditional Yorkshire meals that will be delivered directly to the cottage!

The cottage, rated 3 star for quality, was restored in 2009 and retains many original features, including an open fire place. There is double-glazing throughout, and a combination gas boiler provides full central heating and “always available” hot water.

Sleeping accommodation comprises 2 bedrooms – 1 double (that can be converted to a twin with full size single beds) and 1 twin with full (adult) size bunks. The master bedroom gives an excellent view of the passing steam trains, which typically run at “snail’s pace” past the cottage from 09:00hrs to 18:00hrs in the Summer season (approx. every 30 minutes). There is a double sprung sofa-bed in the lounge that can also be used, subject to prior agreement, to accommodate an additional guest.

The kitchen is newly fitted, with washing machine, dishwasher, gas oven & hobs, microwave and fridge/freezer.

The bathroom has a corner-bath, overhead shower, basin and toilet.

The lounge/dining room provides a “front-row” view of the passing trains as well as the nearby signal box and signals. There is a flat-screen television with DVD. An open fire completes the mood!.

The property is semi-detached and located in a small hamlet, surrounded by the stunning countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park which provides excellent walking. The cottage has its own parking spaces for two vehicles, and a private enclosed patio area with BBQ for alfresco dining. At the rear of the cottage, a wooden bench is positioned to provide an ideal place to watch the trains go by. Across the lane from the cottage are footpaths and open space.

The market town of Pickering can be reached easily by car or by walking (approximately 20 minutes). The cottage is also a short walk from the National Park whilst a short drive will lead you into exquisite open moor land.

All fuel and power is included in the rental, and a basket of logs, for added cosiness and atmosphere, is provided in Winter months! All bed linen and towels are provided. A cot and high chair are available on request, but please bring your own cot linen.
A welcome pack is provided that comprises some basic provisions (e.g. milk, tea-bags etc). However, please contact us if you would like us to do some further shopping for you before you arrive!

Please also note that we have made the patio (and train viewing area!) as safe as possible – this is gated and completely enclosed by fencing. Children will find great excitement in watching the old-fashioned signals and trains, but clearly must be supervised at all times. The property is adjacent to a level crossing and a manned signal box – the stretch of track is used for the trains to exchange tokens with the signal-man, and as such, the passing steam trains travel very slowly (at “snail’s pace”), often completely stopping outside the cottage!
